Anxiety Counseling

For women in Gainesville and across Florida

Quiet your inner critic and take back control.

Is anxiety starting to creep into every area of your life?

Life feels unmanageable, like you can’t even get comfortable in your own skin.

  • Overthinking every decision, even the seemingly “small” things

  • Saying “yes” more often than you want to

  • Blaming yourself or thinking “it’s my fault” when things go wrong

  • Feeling restless, like you can never calm down

  • Extreme people pleasing

  • Experiencing difficulties in your relationships

You don’t have to stay caught in this cycle.

If anxiety has you trapped in the comparison game, is causing you to second-guess everything you think, say, or do, or has stolen your sense of self-confidence, please know that it doesn’t have to stay this way.

Anxiety counseling is a place where you can:

  • Share about how you’re feeling, without fear of shame, judgment, or criticism

  • Learn how to challenge the negative thoughts and beliefs you have about yourself

  • Gain new skills that put you back in control of your life and emotions

THINGS WE’LL WORK ON TOGETHER:

Identifying & challenging unhelpful thinking

Our thoughts and beliefs influence how we experience life. When you can begin to control those thoughts—instead of them controlling you—you’re put back in the driver’s seat of your life.

Improving self-esteem and self-compassion

We all have scripts playing in our head about what we “should” or “shouldn’t” do, be, or say. Let’s work on rewriting those scripts to help you extend the same compassion to yourself as you do to others.

Regulating emotions and tolerating distress

Anxiety is often so difficult because the emotions associated with it are incredibly intense. We’ll work on strategies to calm and regulate your nervous system, even when circumstances are tough.

The only way out is through. Let’s get through it together.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Anxiety can vary significantly from person to person. Some people experience it social situations, second-guessing how they interact with others and how they are perceived. Others have overwhelming moments of panic, sometimes resulting in panic attacks, that can seem to come out of nowhere.

  • Talking is an important part of therapy, but my approach includes a focus on skills, tools, and strategies. We’ll work together on not only exploring what is going on, but how you can start to change it. Tools we may work on in anxiety counseling include:

    • Cognitive defusion (looking at thoughts instead of from them)

    • Assertiveness training

    • Communication skills
