Stress management therapy

For women in Gainesville and across Florida

Decrease burnout. Increase joy.

Are you feeling burned out in just about every area of your life?

Your to-do list feels never-ending, and you’re not sure how you can continue going on like this. Something’s got to give.

  • Difficulty juggling responsibilities as an employee, partner, parent, friend, and more

  • Experiencing resentfulness or anger

  • Feeling alone or like no one understands you

  • Noticing increased conflict and strain in your relationships

  • Feeling guilt or shame for engaging in self-care (and often not doing it all)

  • Saying “yes” more often than you want to

There is a way to thrive in the midst of all your responsibilities (not in spite of them).

When you’re a driven, busy woman, it’s easy to lose yourself in everything that’s asked of you—to begin to see yourself as “just” a mom, partner, employee, friend, caregiver. You are so much more than that. Therapy is a place to get support in prioritizing yourself, asking for what you need, and staying true to yourself…even in the face of daunting to-do lists.

Stress management therapy is a place where you can:

  • Share about how you’re feeling, without fear of shame, judgment, or criticism

  • Learn how to manage stress and remain tuned into your own needs as an individual

  • Gain new skills that put you back in control of your life and emotions

THINGS WE’LL WORK ON TOGETHER:

Prioritizing yourself & self-care

It’s impossible to pour from an empty cup. I’ll help you with practical strategies to keep your own well-being at the top of your to-do list, minus the feelings of guilt or shame that might have accompanied it in the past.

Communicating your needs & values

In the face of stress, it can be difficult to lose sight of what’s important to you. We’ll look at your core values to understand where life isn’t currently measuring up and what needs to change to bring things back into balance.

Regulating emotions and tolerating distress

We can’t always change our circumstances—but we can change how we respond to them. Together, we’ll explore ways to regulate emotions in the midst of stressful circumstances, tolerate distress, and learn to relax.

You are worth investing in.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Stress management therapy can’t change the responsibilities on your plate (although that would be nice!), but it can help you manage them—and your responses to them—in a more sustainable and fulfilling way. We’ll work on healthy, productive strategies to deal with stress when it arises as well as explore ways to decrease or mitigate it at the source.

  • Talking is an important part of therapy, but my approach includes a focus on skills, tools, and strategies. We’ll work together on not only exploring what is going on, but how you can start to change it. Tools we may work on in stress management therapy include:

    • Positive self-talk

    • Cognitive defusion (looking at thoughts instead of from them)

    • Assertiveness training

    • Communication skills

    • Mindfulness

    • Nervous system and emotional regulation

  • In order to get the most of therapy, it’s important that you’re working with someone you connect and feel comfortable with. (And if I’m not, I’m always happy to connect you with someone who might be.)
